Some collaborations make complete sense from the start.
This was one of them.
The worlds of Sipfull of Design and Flipping Bangers already overlapped naturally — garages, project cars, questionable decisions, tea breaks and the sort of workshop humour that only really makes sense if you've spent hours trying to free off a seized bolt.
So when conversations started about building an officially licensed Flipping Bangers mug collection, it never really felt forced.
It felt like something that already belonged there.

Built Around Real Garage Culture
One of the things that’s always made Flipping Bangers feel different is that it never presents classic car ownership as polished or perfect.
It’s about real enthusiast motoring.
Project cars that fight back. Cars bought slightly against better judgement. Fixes that somehow work. Workshop optimism. Shed engineering. Last-minute MOT panic.
That’s the culture we wanted these designs to reflect.
Not supercar showroom culture — but the sort of garage atmosphere most enthusiasts actually recognise.
The Number Plate Ideas
One area we’ve particularly enjoyed exploring is the number plate-inspired concepts.
There’s something instantly recognisable about workshop scribbles, registration plates, temporary stickers and garage shorthand that just feels very “Flipping Bangers”.
They’re subtle nods that enthusiasts immediately understand without needing everything spelled out.
And those are usually the best kinds of designs.
The personalised number plate mugs also ended up becoming an important milestone for us technically.
They were the very first products to use our new in-house live personalisation system — allowing customers to enter their own text, preview the finished design in real time and see it rendered live on the mug before ordering.
That might sound simple, but building it properly took a huge amount of work behind the scenes.
We developed the entire system ourselves here in Sussex so we could keep complete control over the experience and make it work the way our customers actually wanted it to.
Being able to personalise your own “garage plate” and instantly see it update on the mug just felt completely right for this collection.

Designed and Hand-Pressed in Sussex
Every mug in the collection is designed and hand-pressed here in Sussex by us.
That’s important to us.
It means we can keep evolving the collection properly rather than treating it like a one-off licensing exercise.
New ideas can be tested quickly, refined properly and expanded naturally over time.
And there’s definitely more coming.
Where the Range Goes Next
This first release is really just the start.
There are already ideas floating around for additional workshop-style designs, more number plate concepts, retro “instruction manual” artwork and even Gus & Will pairing ideas that lean into the humour and personalities people already know from the series and podcast.
The nice thing about this collaboration is that it has room to grow organically.
Much like most project cars, really.

Final Thoughts
At its heart, this collection is really about celebrating the kind of motoring enthusiasm most people actually recognise.
The imperfect cars. The workshop laughs. The jobs that take longer than expected. The tea that goes cold halfway through.
The side of car culture that feels real.
We’re hugely excited to finally see the collection out there — and we can’t wait to keep building it over the coming months.
