This is Padstow Beach — Joel Clark’s hand-cut vinyl view out to sea from Padstow Rock Beach in Cornwall, part of his British Seaside series. Padstow is one of Cornwall’s most celebrated spots, and that’s precisely the point. Joel’s interest isn’t in the postcard version — it’s in what sits just outside the frame: the signs, the bins, the bollards and railings that line every stretch of Cornish coastline and that everyone walks straight past. Placed against the sweep of the sea and the Rock Beach view, they become what Joel calls a ‘beautiful blemish’ — the honest, functional detail that makes the scene real rather than idealised, and far more interesting for it. Hand-cut vinyl, with its bold flat colour and graphic precision, is the ideal medium to make that argument.

Joel Clark is a British artist working in the unique medium of hand-cut vinyl. He learned the craft at a summer job at Silverstone circuit, spent six years at art college, then 16 years as an advertising creative writing TV and poster campaigns — before finally committing to the work he’d always wanted to make. Every piece begins as a hand-drawn composition; each shape is then intricately cut from coloured vinyl and applied piece by piece, like a jigsaw, to build the final image. The results are vivid and impactful — bold colour, strong composition, and an energy that comes from someone who understands exactly how images communicate. Alongside his collaboration with Sipfull of Design, Joel has created artworks for Lewis Hamilton, Renault F1, Toyota, Silverstone Museum, Porsche, and many others.

Each item is made to order and carefully hand-pressed in our Sussex studio.

Most orders are produced within 24–48 hours, depending on order volume.

Standard delivery: Orders are dispatched using a Royal Mail Tracked 48 service.

Express delivery: Where Express shipping is selected at checkout, orders are dispatched using a Royal Mail Tracked 24 service.

Delivery times refer to courier transit only and do not include production time.
