A lot of what we build at Sipfull starts with an email.
Someone writes in and asks whether we do the thing they want. If enough people ask, and the thing is possible, we build it. That's how British Escapes happened. It's how the Potting Shed range happened. And it's how Rolling Render happened.
The first note about cars came in months ago. A dad wanting a mug of the family car — not a photo, a proper portrait. Then someone asking about a Mini they'd learned to drive in. Then a message about an old MG. Then a Corsa. Then a Land Rover. Then a couple looking for something to gift a grandad who'd owned the same car for decades.
By spring it wasn't a request. It was a pattern.
We tried a few things. Some didn't work. Templates felt cheap. Photo transfers looked like everything else on the market. Vector illustrations couldn't capture the character of individual cars — a mid-70s Escort and a 2016 Focus rendered identically, which missed the whole point.
The thing that worked was harder to build. And it took us most of the spring.
What Rolling Render Actually Is
Rolling Render is a bespoke portrait of your car, hand-pressed onto a mug.
Send us a photo. Any car — yours, a friend's, your dad's classic, a rally shot from a magazine, a childhood memory you found on an old hard drive. Any car, in any condition, in any photo.
We turn it into a cinematic portrait — every panel, badge, wheel and number plate rendered faithfully — and hand-press it onto the mug of your choice, in our small studio in Sussex.
A few things it isn't:
- It isn't a photo mug. Photo mugs are printed straight from the source photo — you can see the driveway, the glare, the wonky angle. Rolling Render doesn't do that. Every mug is a stylised portrait: painterly, considered, framed like it belongs in a small gallery rather than on a fridge.
- It isn't a template. There's no "here are ten car outlines, pick one." Your mug is built from your photo, of your car. Same trim, same wheels, same reg.
- It isn't clip-art. Not a cartoon, not a caricature, not a flat vector illustration. It's a painterly rendering with real weight to it.
That's the whole point. If you love a car, this is the thing you'd want to keep on the shelf.

How It Works
Four steps.
1. Upload your photo. A phone snap works. A three-quarter view catches the most character — but rear shots, profile shots, and old scans all work.
2. Choose your scene and details. Ten backgrounds to pick from. Keep your reg on the plate, use a custom one (a dedication, initials, an "in memory of"), or drop the plate entirely.
3. Get your proof by email. Usually within minutes. Approve it, or tell us what to tweak — up to two revisions included, no extra charge.

The Ten Scenes
Rolling Render comes with ten backgrounds. Each has its own mood. Some cars suit some scenes better than others — but there's nothing stopping you from putting a Bentley on a rally stage or a rally car in a wood-panelled garage. Your car, your call.
- Track — track palette, red-and-white kerbs, rumble strips. Speed made stationary. Made for anything with a wing.
- Rally — dust, gravel, mountain roads. For anyone who's ever driven angry.
- Road — smooth tarmac, motion blur, open horizon. The good drive.
- Classic — timeless painterly finish, pastels and cream. Concours-style. For the classic-car people.
- Oak Garage — no motion, no streaks. A car at rest in a warm, wood-panelled setting. A proper portrait. For the ones you don't drive anymore, or don't want to.
- Sunset — warm sky, long shadows, quiet backdrop. For sports cars that photograph well against colour.
- Offroad — mud, rock, hillside. Land Rovers, pickups, anything with a roof rack.
- Mountain — winding roads, alpine backdrop. Made for the touring car.
- Blue Hour — the last half-hour before night, cool cyan sky over a warm horizon glow. For cars that look their best when the light gets moody.

The Bit That Took Months
Here's the honest bit.
Rolling Render is easy to use. It took a very long time to build.
The mugs themselves are the straightforward part — we've been hand-pressing mugs in Sussex for a while now. What took months was the tooling behind them. The system that takes a phone snap of any car and turns it into a cinematic portrait, faithfully, every time. That takes work. Quiet, unglamorous, occasionally infuriating work. A lot of code, a lot of stubborn iteration, a lot of evenings spent on things you'll never see.
But even the best tooling only gets you 95% there.
Every Rolling Render proof — every single one — is then checked by a real person before it goes anywhere near you. Usually Danni, in our Sussex studio. She checks the badges. The stance. The wheels. Which side of the car the driver would sit on, if there's a driver. Whether the specific character of your car has come through, or whether it looks like a generic version of "car of that type."
If it's not right, she sends it back through, or adjusts it by hand. Only then does it come to you as a proof.

What's Next
A few of you have already asked.
Prints, yes. We're working on it. A proper archival print on gallery paper, in a couple of sizes, ready to frame. No firm date yet, but the answer is yes — watch this space.
Other vehicles, yes. Vintage tractors, motorbikes, campervans, boats — we've had requests for all of them. Rolling Render is currently cars-only because that's what we've tuned the tooling for, but we're paying attention. If there's a specific vehicle you'd love to see, tell us.
Two-car scenes. We're looking at a design that puts two cars in one frame — his and hers, then and now, the daily and the weekend one. Early days, but it's on the list.
