This range started with a customer email.
Someone had inherited their grandfather's old motor oil tin. It had sat above his workbench for forty years. They wanted a mug that captured it — not a photo mug, not a template, something that would properly honour it. We built the tooling for that, launched Custom Oil Can Mug at the weekend, and the responses started coming in immediately.
The most common reply wasn't about oil cans.
“This is brilliant. Could you do it with my dad's whisky?”
“What about the gin we drank on our wedding day?”
“My mum's perfume bottle, would that work?”
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Sipfull Portraits is what happens when the tooling that turns oil cans into cinematic mugs gets pointed at the rest of the drinks cabinet, the dressing table, the fridge, the shelf. Five ranges, all built on the same principle: your bottle, your photo, your private commission.

What Sipfull Portraits actually is
You upload a clear photo of any bottle, tin or can. Our system produces three stylised interpretations of the same design — different atmospheres, same layout, same typography, same iconography preserved from your source. You pick your favourite, choose your mug (size, colour, material), and check out.
The moment your payment goes through, the print file is ready. No proof round-trip. No waiting a week for us to email you back. You approved the design at the point of ordering, so the mug goes straight into the press queue in our Sussex studio.
Because you supplied the source, it's a private commission for you personally — a mug made from your photo, not a piece of merchandise we're selling to the world. That distinction matters, and we'll come back to it.

The five categories
Each product is tuned specifically for its category. A gin bottle photographs differently to a beer can. A perfume bottle has different label conventions to a whisky. The system has been trained per category, with a prompt library that respects what makes each type of bottle recognisable.
- Gin & Whisky. The dad's-shelf-of-the-good-stuff mug. Botanical labels, heritage marks, the crest on the neck. Whisky in one, gin in the other — whichever your source photo is.
- Beer. From the first-pub bottle to the craft-brewery can you drink now. Heritage brewery, craft studio, pilsner, mid-century — the atmosphere adjusts to match the label.
- Wine & Champagne. Château labels, chalky vintage marks, the foil cap on a Champagne cork. For anniversaries, honeymoons, first-dates, and the bottles you keep for celebrations you haven't earned yet.
- Perfume. The trickiest category and the most rewarding — perfume bottles are objects of design in their own right. For mums, grandmothers, first perfumes, the scent that reminds you of a specific person.
- Oil Can. Where this range started. The workshop tin from the shed, from the wall, from your granddad's bench. Fresh, aged, or oil-stained — whichever brings the tin back the way you remember it.
Each product page shows exactly what styles you'll get for that category, with sample thumbnails so you can see the atmospheres before you upload.
How it works
Three steps. Same for every product in the range.
1. Upload your photo. Straight-on, whole bottle visible, well-lit, no filters. Phone snaps work if the light's decent. If your photo isn't quite right, we'll tell you before we start.
2. Get three illustrated interpretations, in a minute. Same layout, same typography, same iconography — different atmospheres. Preview each one live on the mug of your choice, in 3D, before you commit.
3. Pick your favourite and check out. No proof approval email, no waiting a week. You picked. It prints.
Interprets, doesn't reinvent
Here's the bit that matters.
The system is trained to interpret your photo — not reinvent it. The layout stays yours. Typography, badge shapes, iconography, colour hierarchy — all preserved from your source. What changes is the mood: the fresh version looks like it came off the shelf yesterday; the aged version looks like it's been on a shelf for thirty years.
The point isn't to make your bottle look like something else. The point is to render your bottle as a stylised illustration that keeps everything you'd recognise about it — while making it feel like the kind of thing you'd want to display, not something you'd hide in a cupboard.
It's the difference between a photo mug and a portrait.
A note on trademarks (because you'll wonder)
You'll be uploading a photo of a real bottle from a real brand. That's completely fine because of one specific principle: you supplied the source, so what we produce is a private commission for you personally.
We're not selling mugs featuring Bombay Sapphire or Glenfiddich or Peroni or Chanel or Castrol. We're helping you make a mug from your photo, for your own use. Which is a very different thing, both legally and ethically.
Most of the brand holders we've spoken to about this have been understanding — they see that our customers are buying for emotional reasons and that a hand-pressed mug from a small Sussex studio isn't a threat to what they've built. We're grateful to those who've taken that view. And we won't repurpose your uploads for anyone else; each one is between us and the printer.
The practical bits
- 1-year fade guarantee. If the print fades within 12 months, free replacement.
- Hand-pressed in England. Every mug, every time, in our Sussex studio.
- Free UK shipping when you order two mugs or more. Tracked delivery from £1.99 otherwise.
- Personalised means non-returnable. You approve the design before it prints, so nothing's a surprise.
- Only your photos. No scraping, no repurposing, no using anyone else's uploads.
Start with the bottle that means something
Five categories, one process. Upload the photo, pick the mood, choose your mug.
What's next
Sipfull Portraits is built to expand. The tooling underneath doesn't care whether it's a bottle, a tin, or something we haven't thought of yet — anything with a strong printed label and enough visual character can go through the same pipeline. If there's a specific category you'd love to see, tell us. Every range we've launched at Sipfull started because someone asked.
Our sister range Rolling Render — the same "upload a photo, get a stylised portrait" idea, but for cars — is expanding to motorbikes next. And we're working on a second range, Sipfull Labels, that solves a different problem: what if you don't have a photo, but you have a name? More on that soon.
One Last Thing
Sipfull Portraits exists because the objects we love aren't in museums. They're on kitchen shelves, in dressing tables, above workbenches. Small, everyday, easy to forget. The point of turning one into a mug isn't nostalgia for its own sake — it's putting the thing you keep meaning to notice back into the corner of your eye. Every morning. Over a cup of tea.
Send us the bottle. See what we can do.
